They're here - the Spiel Nominations 2023!
The Spiel de Jahres are kind of like the Oscars of board gaming and it's always fun to see what the committee picked. The 2023 finalist nominations were announced today. Due to the German focus of the awards, there is sometimes a difference in release year between the awards and the typical American audience. There are three categories: Spiel de Jahres (Game of the Year - a general winner), the Kennerspiel (Critic's Pick, typically more complex games), and Kinderspiel de Jahres (Children's Game of the Year). The group which puts on the awards is also known for recommending games and giving out special awards.
